I love mountains, lakes & hiking.
Their greatness inspires and awes me.
The pic here is of Leigh Lake in the Grand Tetons. And yes, when I found out it was going to be near us on the Great Camping Trip of 2011- I dragged my family there even though we had already hiked several miles, climbed a mountain to Inspiration Point & suffered injuries that day. Luckily for us it was an easy walk.
What made the hike (walk) to Leigh Lake amazing was the surprise we received. There we are, traipsing through the woods, walking, walking, walking & suddenly, out of nowhere we discover an opening in the trees & whoosh! Leigh Lake is before us. And all we could was stop & gasp at it’s beauty.
That’s what I love about hiking- the surprises that are in store for us. Here we are, going along, & if you pay attention at the right moment- there’s something amazing. Sometimes it’s bright as dawn, screaming at you to stop & admire it’s beauty. Other times it’s like a secret- small & hidden, where you must be open to the unknown to capture the moment.
So what is the point of this post?

I just woke up on this insanely beautiful Nebraska morning, having spent a GREAT weekend learning longarm techniques, anticipating a full, fun quilty-packed week (which I can’t wait to tell you about!) & realizing that today I am going to a funeral to comfort a friend.
And all I can think about, is that we must be open to discovering…….
